Jeans Day and Fun Walk in aid of Maratona Bir-Roti

7th March 2014

The annual Maratona Bir-Roti organised at the Liceo, Boys Secondary School of our College has for the past couple of years become a College event. Therefore our school also took part in the launch of the campaign to raise awareness about the marathon itself. It was with this in mind that the Student Council suggested to once again organise a Fun Walk to raise money to give as a donation. They also suggested that we would also have a Jeans Day to be more of an incentive for students to participate.  Kikku, the marathon’s mascot also joined in! It was an even bigger success than last year as with the help of parents who continued to ask for donations during the walk, the students who made their own donation and the school itself; we managed to raise €500!! The students then attended the marathon itself on Sunday 16th March to present their donation.

Student of the Month

Monthly certificates presented to chosen students from Kindergarten up to Yr 6.

Throughout the year various students from Kindergarten classes up to our Year 6 have been chosen monthly to celebrate their achievements in class. This was done to motivate students not only academically but also socially. Certificates were given for various reasons such as being responsible, creative, a good friend, a good helper, a great listener, adapting to school, working in a group and other reasons related to the personal and social development of our students to enhance their well being and self-esteem.

Carnival celebrated at school

28th February 2014

As every year we celebrated carnival at school. All children came dressed up in different costumes and they put up a show in the Hall. The teachers also surprised the children by dressing up themselves and presenting an item! On the same day we also had a Ftira Day and on the request of the Student Council all students were allowed to get some sweets with them just for the day.

Launch – Maratona Bir-Roti

5th February 2014

The annual Maratona Bir-Roti organised at the Liceo, Boys Secondary School of our College has for the past couple of years become a College event. Therefore our school also took part in the launch of the campaign to raise awareness about the marathon itself, which was held in St. George’s Square in Valletta. This years theme was ‘Minn qalbna għal qalbkom’ as the money raised will be used to buy AED machines for each and every school in our country. These machines are used in life-threatening cases of emergency. Teachers and students will also be trained in First Aid.

Representatives of all the schools in our College attended with various forms of hearts. All together the students formed a large heart.

Casual Day

22nd January 2014

The Student Council organised this years Casual Day with the help of our PSD teachers, the Head of school and the Assistant Head. Being it was such a great success they requested it be organised once again this year.

Children paid €1 to leave their uniforms at home and dress up casually for school. The Student Council came up with some different ideas for this year. Besides once again having a visit from the A.A.A. during which the Student Council presented a donation of €30 from the money they collected to sponsor a dog from A.A.A in the school’s name, children also brought to school food and treats for the animals at the A.A.A. We also organised a lovely visit from the Dogs Section of The Police Force. They gave us a very interesting display and the children had time to meet new four legged friends.

After the Casual Day, we recieved a certificate and photo of the dog we sponsored. His name is Riley and we very proudly put up his photo at school for all to see!
